CEREBRAL PALSY AND DOWN SYNDROME (18H)

Sonia Sivakami Sumar teaches this comprehensive continuing education course on the theory and practice of yoga techniques for babies and children with cerebral palsy or Down syndrome. Understanding the medical contraindications of specific asanas and breathing techniques is essential, so please only try to copy our work with proper instructions.

Program Information:

Participants will start each day by deepening their yoga practice with a meditation and Hatha Yoga Class led by Sonia Sumar or another certified yoga instructor who will assist Sonia during the program. Four hands-on training sessions with children with Down Syndrome and/or Cerebral Palsy follow. Each class ends with a group discussion and question-and-answer period about the techniques learned, the appropriate yoga routine for each child, and the child's stage.
